Dubai Exiles Touch Rugby players took their first steps into competitive Touch Rugby on Tuesday evening. The Exiles’ Touch Rugby group has been playing ‘social’ touch rugby at The Sevens on a Wednesday evening for most of the season. Inevitably, the time came to get stuck into some competitive, but light hearted, competition.
It wasn’t the fairytale beginning everybody hoped for. In the first round of the Aetna Super 6s Competition the Exiles were drawn against one of the competition’s hot favourites, the Falcons. It was a tough induction, but by no means one way traffic, despite the 14 – 2 scoreline in favour of the Falcons.
Smiles, a little bit of laughter, and a good time was the order of the evening and those three boxes were certainly ticked with enthusiasm. We’re off and running – roll on round 2.
